Richard Rogers visited Foster + Partners’ Masdar City in Abu Dhabi last week to discuss opportunities for UK firms to work on it

The £22bn scheme is intended to be the world’s first zero-carbon urban area.

Rogers is chairing an “infrastructure work group” set up by UK Trade and Investment, the arm of government that helps firms win work abroad.

The group aims to improve links with the Masdar Initiative, the company behind the city. Last week’s meeting of the group comprised 15 senior executives from the UK and UAE.

A follow-up visit, expected to be led by a minister, is planned for early 2010, and a video conference will take place before Christmas. For details, email Phil.Dowrick@pera.com.
