Contractor Rok has created a £850m business and expanded its presence in Scotland with the acquisition of Tulloch Construction Group.

ROK has agreed to buy privately owned Tulloch for £31.3m. Tulloch, which has a turnover of £107m, has eight offices in Scotland and is focused on private sector construction work.

Ashley Martin, Rok group finance director, said: “There are five or six areas where we want more coverage and Scotland was one. Tulloch has a large presence in Scotland and shares the same ethos as Rok.”

Other areas where Rok would like to grow its business include East Anglia, South Wales and the Midlands.

As part of the takeover, David Sutherland, executive chairman of Tulloch, will join Rok’s board as a non-executive director.
