Pierre-Andre de Chalendar replaces Christian Streiff who stepped down after only a year in the job.
Saint Gobain has appointed Pierre-Andre de Chalendar as its new chief operating officer.
De Chalendar replaces Christian Streiff who took on the role of chief operating officer in April 2004.
Promoted form within, de Chalendar has been senior vice president of the company and president of the building distribution centre since 2003.
Saint Gobain has also announced the acquisition of Chinese-based Danfeng, a silicon carbide producer. Silicon carbide powder is a fine ceramic used in the form of a grain or grit on a wide range of products such as semi-conductor parts, abrasives and refractory parts.
Danfeng has sales of £10.5m per annum.
