Supplier of roofing, insultation and interiors says UK sales are up on last year.

Product supplier SIG has reported an increase in activity in its UK office market since the beginning of 2005.

The firm said that sales in the UK and the US were ahead of the same period last year but reported that Germany continued to endure depressed market conditions.

Chief executive David Williams said: “Trading to date in 2005 has been good with like for like sales ahead of prior year in each of our three operating regions, UK and Republic of Ireland Mainland Europe and the USA and in each of the group's main product sectors, specifically insulation, roofing and commercial Interiors.”

Williams said that SIG’s six bolt-on acquisitions so far this year had helped to increase branch openings by 14 since the start of the year.

Williams also noted the positive impact of modest price inflation since the start of the year.
