Turnover at Manchester City stand builder jumps one third
John Sisk & Son has said that it returned to profit last year as revenue topped £600m.
The firm, which is building a new stand at Manchester City’s Etihad stadium, said pre-tax profit hit £6m from a £9.7m loss last time with turnover up a third to £625m. The firm also made a £2.5m pre-tax loss in 2022 from an £8.4m profit the year before.
The company said the jump in work reflected an “enhanced performance across a number of its key sectors including commercial, sports and leisure, residential, infrastructure, healthcare and life sciences”.
Chief operating officer Steven McGee said: “FY2024 was an improved year for us, following a challenging period marked by legacy projects. Over the past 24 months, we’ve strategically secured projects in key sectors we have been targeting, most notably in the commercial and healthcare spaces across central London.”
Over the summer, Building revealed Sisk had won a £110m deal to overhaul a 1970s block in London’s Victoria that used to be the headquarters of oil giant BP and latterly retailer John Lewis.
Earlier this month, Sisk announced it was buying Northen Irish contractor Farrans from parent, materials firm CRH, for an undisclosed sum.
