Two year job set to start next January
Sisk is set to start work next January on a £38m revamp of the London Irish Centre in Camden.
The centre opened in at Camden Square in 1955 and was founded to provide employment, accommodation support and social connection for newly arrived Irish immigrants in London.
Plans for the revamp have been designed by Coffey Architects and work will include building a two-tiered, 400-seat multi-purpose performance space, a 130-seat studio theatre and cinema as well as a new library and social spaces.
The Irish government has pledged €6.7m (£5.7m) for the work which is expected to finish by spring 2029.
Sisk Construction UK managing director Ger Hayes said: “We are extremely proud to have been selected as main contractor and to be entrusted with the construction of the new London Irish Centre in Camden. Together, with the team at LIC we will create a modern facility that celebrates this heritage and provides a lasting legacy for future generations.”
