New starter arrives in middle of next month

Skanska’s former director in charge of its Cementation, infrastructure and HS2 work has joined Galliford Try.

Thomas Faulkner left Skanska at the start of the year after more than 27 years at the business following a wider rejig at the firm.

He arrives at Galliford Try in the middle of next month and has been appointed to its executive board, succeeding Mark Baxter who is also the divisional managing director of its specialist services arm.

Baxter is retiring next year after 27 years and Galliford Try said: “Mark will support Thomas’s induction into the business and retire at the end of December 2026.”

Galliford Try is due to announce its next set of full-year results on 17 September.

Meanwhile, Skanska said that James Davies is joining the firm next Monday as divisional director overseeing key construction projects in the defence and health sectors.

Davies, who is moving from Laing O’Rourke, will report to executive vice president Terry Muckian who is in charge of Skanska’s building business.
