The Learning and Skills Council has said it is confident it will support the National Construction College’s (NCC) £15m bid for funding.

Philip Head, director of infrastructure and property services at the council, said he thought the bid, due to be submitted early next week, would be in line with the body’s aims.

He said: “We’ve had a number of discussions with the NCC and we are confident they’ll produce something we can support. The council has supported the work of the college; we all operate within the same skills family.”

Andy Walder, NCC’s commercial manager, said the organisation had been working hard with the council, but funding was “by no means guaranteed”.

The council said the bid was likely to be reviewed within four to six weeks.
