Troubled architect is without a bidder for the second time in as many weeks

Takeover talks between troubled architect SMC and a private equity-backed potential bidder have broken down.

SMC announced today that all offer discussions for the company had ceased. The development comes a week after SMC revealed talks over a potential merger with fellow listed architect Aukett Fitzroy Robinson had collapsed.

Last month, SMC posted a pre-tax loss of £4.5m after a year that left it with more than £18m of debt.
