Local council will decide whether to demolish Elephant and Castle's Aylesbury Estate next week.

The future of the massive Aylesbury Estate in Elephant and Castle will be decided next week by Southwark Council.

There are two options for improving the area – refurbishment or redevelopment.

If the council choose to redevelop, the whole estate would be knocked down in stages and replaced with the same number of social rented properties.

There is also a possibility that the existing homes could be refurbished – although this is thought to be the more expensive option.

The council meets on the 27th September.
