Former Serco chairman Kevin Beeston will replace Norman Askew on 1 July

Taylor Wimpey has appointed former Serco chairman Kevin Beeston as non-executive chairman of the housebuilder. He replaces Norman Askew.

Beeston, who begins on 1 July, is a non-executive director of engineering firm IMI PLC, where Askew is chairman.

Beeston is also chairman of three private businesses; appliance repair specialist Domestic & General, mental healthcare provider Partnerships in Care and education resource company Infinitas Learning BV, owned by private equity group Bridgepoint. He is also a former non-executive director of Ipswich Town Football Club.

Taylor Wimpey chief executive Peter Redfern, said: “Kevin brings significant experience of senior management roles within a growing public company and I look forward to working with him to deliver value to shareholders.”

Beeston said: “Having spent the majority of my career with Serco Group, I am looking forward immensely to applying my service experience to Taylor Wimpey's future strategic direction and development.”
