Housebuilder wins planning permission for the largest housing development in the South West.

Taylor Woodrow has won planning consent for the development of about 2,300 homes in the Swindon Southern Development Area.

The homes will form part of a 309-hectare Greenfield development extending to 4,500 homes including a mix of commercial, leisure and retail facilities.

The project will involve Taylor Woodrow acquiring council land in exchange for infrastructure works.

The development will provide housing for about 10,000 people and Taylor Woodrow said that work on initial infrastructure will start in Autumn 2005. The initial phase will be for 840 homes, the first of which will be completed by September 2006.
