Public consultation has begun on a £7m plan to regenerate Camden Town in London.

Businesses are proposing to introduce public art, more trees and wider pavements to the area in time for the 2012 Olympics. The centrepiece would be a 30ft “Britannia beacon” next to the tube station, designed to light up an area known for drug dealers. The proposals come from Camden Town Unlimited, set up by 300 local businesses. Designs were drawn up by Gillespies with the London borough of Camden and Transport for London.
