Three teams have been selected to carry out £450m worth of modernising and refurbishment work at 97 London Underground stations.
Contractor YJL Construction and designer Ruddle Wilkinson have been selected to upgrade 38 stations on the Northern Line.

Gleeson MCL and the Design for Transport consortium will tackle 36 stations on the Piccadilly Line. And Wiggins Gee and designer Pascall & Watson are to upgrade 23 stations on the Jubilee Line.

The contracts, which will last seven-and-a-half years, are due to be complete in 2010 once the public–private partnership between London Underground and the Tubelines consortium has reached financial close. When the deal is concluded, the partnership will be called Infraco JNP.

The programme is intended to deliver better passenger information on platforms and ticket halls as well as addressing structural problems, finishes and M&E work.
