Current chief executive of New East Manchester regeneration company will be group director for Olympic legacy at LDA

The man responsible for the regeneration of East Manchester following the Commonwealth Games is to be put in charge of the Olympic Games regeneration, Building can reveal.

Tom Russell, currently chief executive of urban regeneration company New East Manchester, has been poached by the London Development Agency to be group director for Olympic legacy at the agency.

An announcement of the job is expected tomorrow, Russell confirmed to Building. He said he will start work for the LDA in January. “I’m really pleased and excited to be doing this,” he added.

While at New East Manchester, Russell has overseen the regeneration around the Sportcity area of Manchester following the Commonwealth Games.
