Consultant will follow parent Carillion into Canada and the Middle East

Carillion-owned consultant TPS is planning to almost double its international business in the next two years as it follows the contractor into the Middle East and Canada.

The 400-strong, £30m turnover business does 17 -20% of its work outside of Britain, but aims to increase that to 30% by 2013.

Frank Huidobro, TPS managing director, said the firm already works in Canada and the Middle East but was looking to expand there because Carillion was strong in both regions.

The firm also has projects in Oman, Iraq and Rwanda.

While owned by Carillion, TPS only earns about 30% of its work through its parent contractor.

About half of its chartered staff are engineers, and the rest are surveyors, project managers and architects.
