Hugh Try is to take over from Sir Michael Pickard as chairman of the Housing Forum, the body formed to promote the Egan agenda in the housebuilding sector.
Construction minister Brian Wilson said Try was chosen because of his track record of chairing organisations. He recently stepped down as chairman of the Construction Industry Training Board after six years in the role.

Wilson said: "Sir Michael Pickard has made a considerable effort to put the work of the forum at the centre of progress with Rethinking Construction. I have confidence that Hugh will continue to develop the breadth and depth of activities."

Other newly appointed members of the board include House Builders Federation director general Robert Ashmead, David Wilson Homes managing director Mike Stansfield, Lovells managing director Jeffrey Adams, Willmott Dixon chief operating officer Chris Durkin and Barrie Munday, chairman of PRP Architects.
