Firm to be merged into consultant’s cost management team in the capital

Turner & Townsend (T&T) has taken over London firm Alinea in a deal which will see the latter’s 110-strong staff merged into the larger consultant’s cost management team in the capital.

The combined team will from today operate under the name Turner & Townsend Alinea. It is aiming to be the leading data-led cost consultancy in the capital.

Alinea is known for its work on tall buildings in London, including 22 Bishopsgate

It will be led by Alinea’s Iain Parker, who co-founded the £16m-turnover cost consultancy, which has become well known for its role on some of London’s tallest buildings, including 22 Bishopsgate.

Patricia Moore, UK managing director at T&T, said the two firms shared an ambition to “transform performance in the construction sector” through data through data-led digital cost consultancy.

“With such a strong strategic and cultural fit between our two companies, we are primed to establish a new disruptive force in cost management,” she said.

Parker added: “When we founded Alinea 10 years ago we said that we wanted to raise the standard of cost consultancy and disrupt the market through a strong focus and personal service.

“That rings truer than ever today as we embark on a new era with Turner & Townsend. Our London businesses are a compelling strategic fit, with a shared focus and commitment to investing in our people and our service offering.”

Alinea was founded by six former partners of EC Harris and Davis Langdon in 2013 following the latter’s takeover by Aecom.

The acquisition of Alinea comes less than two years after T&T’s own acquisition by CBRE, the world’s largest real estate services firm.

Last month, T&T’s latest accounts revealed that it had paid a total of £18.9m in bonus awards to employees of the business, in recognition of length of service.
