Contract for £24m scheme includes refurb of 165 homes and creation of green transport plan

International consultant Turner & Townsend has been appointed cost consultant, project manager and management consultant for Bournville Village Trust’s £24m redevelopment of Lower Shenley.

The scheme includes the refurbishment of 165 existing housing stock and the creation of a ‘green transport plan’. This would separate pedestrian, cycle and road traffic to encourage more cycling and walking, and a recycling and waste management plan.

Associate director Tim Jervis said: “The Bournville Village Trust scheme shows that sustainability is more than simple hype and can translate to excellent design, affordable and highly desirable housing within a clean and spacious, environmentally aware and focused community.”

Turner & Townsend has been advising the trust on how to achieve ‘excellent’ EcoHomes rating.
