McDowell + Benedetti has designed this £6.6m footbridge for Hull city centre to link up with a new civic quarter on the east bank of the river Hull.

Its pivoting design means that up to 1,000 pedestrians can remain on the bridge as it rotates 90° to allow river traffic to pass. Qualter Hall and Alan Baxter & Associates are engineering the project, and Pierse Contracting will start construction in February 2009.
