Trading brisk in second quarter and healthy figures forecast for full year

Vinci has posted a 15% rise in turnover to €15.7bn (£12.4bn) for the first six months of 2008.

The French construction giant said that turnover for 2008 was expected to be up by 10% on last year, when it turned over €30.4bn (£24bn).

Trading in the second quarter had been brisk, it said, with a turnover rise of 13.2%.

The firm also announced that its order book was 5% up from where it stood at the end of 2007, to reach €22.7bn (£17.9bn).

A company statement said: “In a tougher economic environment, marked by a slowdown in demand in certain market segments and certain countries, Vinci has demonstrated the solidity of its integrated concessionaire-construction business model.”
