Contractor to carry out work on Barton Square part of development

Vinci has won a £75m deal to revamp the Trafford Centre’s Barton Square for shopping centre specialist Intu.

The firm, which in the spring saw Hammerson abort a £3.4bn takeover of the business because of deteriorating conditions in the UK retail industry, has owned the Manchester centre for more than seven years when it bought the complex off original developer Peel for £1.6bn.
