Viiva Architects, a young Finnish practice, has won the Arup World Architecture Award 2001 for this Finnish embassy building in Berlin.
The project was also voted one of the two best buildings completed in Europe and the best office building in the world. The award was part of the first World Architecture Awards, organised by Building's sister magazine World Architecture. They took place in Hong Kong on 22 June. The British winners included Future Systems for the NatWest Media Centre at Lord's cricket ground (best sports and leisure building in the world), and Foster and Partners for the Canary Wharf Jubilee Line Station (best transport and infrastructure building).
