Plans have been unveiled to turn Exhibition Road in South Kensington, home of the Natural History Museum and the Science Museum, into a pedestrian-friendly area. Dixon Jones Architects plans to restrict traffic and remove kerbs and barriers from the road. The £35m scheme has the backing of London mayor Ken Livingstone. To date only £750,000 from the Greater London Authority has been pledged for the project; the intention is to apply to the National Lottery for more. Arup is the traffic engineer and TPS Schal the project manager.
