Engineering consultancy says it has benefited from favourable market conditions.

Engineering consultancy Waterman Group has increased pre-tax profits by almost 56% for the year ending June 2005.

The firm’s pre-tax profits went up from £2m to over £3.1m on a turnover of £72.6m, up from £65m over the same period.

Basic earnings per share when up to 6.9p for the year ending June 2005 from 5.1p in the previous financial year.

Managing director Bob Campbell said the results are excellent news and that Waterman has benefited from favourable trading conditions.

He said: “It is difficult to anticipate whether the recent improvement in margins is sustainable in the longer term.”

“However, our record long term order book, strong balance sheet and good performance reported across all sectors enable us to approach the future with confidence.”

The company is pleased that new offices in Beijing and Dubai have successfully generated major new projects and offer good growth potential
