Steve Holbrook was at firm for just over 18 months
Wates’ managing director of London Steve Holbrook has left the business.
He joined the firm in 2024 and led the firm’s regional strategy and delivery of major projects.
In a post on LinkedIn this morning, he said: “Well that’s a wrap for [my] time at Wates. Thank you to all those that supported me over the last 20 months and I wish you all the very best for the future. For me now - a bit of thinking time!! So some biking, surfing, skiing, hiking to help that thinking. See you all around.”

Wates has been contacted for comment but it is understood UK operations director George Mosey as taken interim charge of the London business.
Before he arrived at Wates, Holbrook worked at Skanska leaving the business in late 2023 drawing a line under a career at the business that began in 1995.
Holbrook was appointed boss of the firm’s building business in 2018, two years after he took over from Paul Heather as the firm’s head of its London commercial building business. Heather, now group managing director of McLaren, left to go to Sir Robert McAlpine.
