Wates has won the job to build a £100m office scheme in Leeds.

Joint venture developer Roydhouse Properties and Marrico LLP said Wates had been appointed as main contractor on the £100m Central Square development on Wellington Street in Leeds.

Planning permission was granted for the 11-storey office scheme, by architect DLA Design, in March.

Construction on the project is expected to begin next month.

The 220,000 sq ft mixed-use scheme also includes retail and leisure facilities.

Meanwhile, Wates also confirmed it would build the second phase of Development Securities’ 12 Hammersmith Grove scheme, designed by architect Flanagan Lawrence.

Wates said work would begin immediately on the £41m job, which involves the construction of a 218,500 sq ft 11-storey office building in Hammersmith, West London.

The confirmation of the appointment comes after the contractor reached completion of the first phase of the scheme at 10 Hammersmith Grove in July last year, which included 110,000 sq ft of office space and 6,000 sq ft of cafes, restaurants and public space.
