Multidisciplinary consultant White Young Green has been appointed on the team of a £160m redevelopment planned for the centre of Hull.

The firm is providing civil, structual and M&E services for developer ING Real Estate on the St Stephens scheme in the Ferensway area of the city. The project, designed jointly by architects Foster and Partners and Holder Mathias, will create 50,000 m2 of retail area as well as flats and a performing arts theatre. It also includes the refurbishment of the Grade II-listed Paragon railway station to form an integrated transport interchange.

Work is due to start on the project this month, with completion expected in spring 2007. The project team also includes QS Deacon & Jones and project manager Cygnus, a subsidiary of Mace.
