White Young Green has won a £500,000 contract to manage the construction of a £200m jail in Northern Ireland

The firm’s management services division has been appointed to the design-and-build scheme, which will be built at the Magilligan prison site in County Londonderry.

The contract was awarded by the Northern Ireland prison service and involves developing the brief and the business case for a 800-cell facility, selecting the procurement route and tender documentation and awarding the construction contract.

Clive Anderson, managing director of WYG management services, said the firm would work to reduce the timescale and cost for the building.

The contract is for a three-year period, with an optional extension.
