Building materials supplier spends £89m acquiring five companies in North America and two in Europe.

Wolseley has announced seven acquisitions, taking its spending to a record £900m this year.

The building materials supplier has spent £89m acquiring five companies in North America and two firms in Europe.

These take Wolseley's acquisitions to 50 since August last year, worth around £900m in total.

Charlie Banks, group chief executive of Wolseley said: "We are delighted to announce these new bolt-on acquisitions which continue to support our strategy of geographic and product expansion."
