McLaughlin & Harvey to build unit at London hospital
Plans by Ryder Architects for a new surgical centre at Guy’s Hospital in London will get going next year after the government approved the scheme.
Enabling works have already begun at the site with McLaughlin & Harvey due to start next summer on main construction work. The scheme, set to cost around £110m, is due to finish at the end of 2028 and open the following spring.
The centre will be dedicated to non-emergency surgery and will be in an eight-storey building that will include six new operating theatres, 17 recovery rooms, discharge lounge and change and rest facilities for theatre staff.
The hospital said elective orthopaedic surgery will transfer from Guy’s main theatres to the new centre.
