The National Security Inspectorate is to host a series of free half-day seminars around the UK to encourage non-approved installers to find out more about the benefits of NSI approval.

Open to all companies eligible to seek approval for NSI’s security and fire schemes, the seminars will be hosted by NSI chief executive Tom Mullarkey, who will lead a discussion about the benefits of NSI approval and industry issues, aiming to provide an opportunity for delegates to discuss any issues directly with the NSI.

There will also be an opportunity for a one-to-one informal chat with NSI staff concerning approval and application issues.

“There are many myths concerning the achievement of NSI approval,” Mullarkey said. “Some of it is down to a genuine lack of awareness, and some of it due to misconceptions sometimes promoted by those opposed to NSI’s approval criteria.

“NSI believes in total openness and through constructive discussion wishes to dispel many of the concerns some companies may have regarding NSI approval. Companies will also have the opportunity to tell us what we can do better to encourage them to seek approval.”

The seminars take place at Belfast (Wellington Park Hotel, Jan 21); Birmingham (Walsall Football Club, Jan 27); London (ABI, Feb 4); Cardiff (Holiday Inn Cardiff North, Feb 11); Manchester (Lancashire County Cricket Club, Feb 18); Newbury (Newbury Racecourse, Feb 23); Exeter (Exeter Golf & Country Club, Feb 25); Peterborough (Orton Hall Hotel, Mar 2); Leeds (Leeds United Football Club, Mar 4); Durham (Durham County Cricket Club, Mar 11); and Glasgow (Glenlee Tall Ship, Mar 18).
