Salford’s Centre for Construction Innovation has launched the first social networking website for women in construction.

More than 80 women have already joined the Women and Work project, which allows users to network and share experiences, helping them overcome the barriers and isolation some experience in such a male-dominated sector. ‘They might be the only woman working in their company, so our website will give them a chance to meet online and draw support from each other. They can even arrange an online mentor for support,’ said Katy Harris, who co-manages the project with Dr Lisa Worrall.
