Devon police commissioned specialist installers, John Fricker & Sons, to help cover a security blind spot on the Queen’s Golden Jubilee route at Exeter. A scheduled visit to the Cathedral would have meant Her Majesty would have entered a surveillance blind spot for a quarter of an hour with around 20,000 people milling around nearby.

The company installed a Pelco Spectra dome, overlooking the Queen’s route. John Fricker said: “Using a DVR with ISDN transmission, we relayed the images and control of the Spectra back to the Devon County CCTV control room. Staff there used a PC and flat screen supplied and installed by us to view and control the Spectra.”
