Following on from Siemens Building Technologies Security Systems' appointment as a preferred supplier to Costain Construction, the company has won a major contract for the £2.5 million upgrade of security systems at Rampton Secure Hospital in Nottinghamshire.
The project – dubbed 'Secure Perimeter Upgrade' – will take some 15 months to implement, encompassing the supply, installation and commissioning of CCTV, perimeter intruder detection systems, gate locking and vidicoms, not to mention bespoke external security lighting.

Siemens is also taking on responsibility for the new Control Room, which will make use of the company's Interactive Video Management (IVM) system. Operation of the system is simplified for the end user by way of a Graphical User Interface, which allows rapid identification and control of all system elements.

A key feature of this approach is the ability to provide cause and effect operations across connected systems. In practice, all events are recorded on to a Siemens SISTORE digital recording network operated through the IVM.

The contract will be run by a dedicated project manager supported by specialist teams.
