Refcom is now the mandatory F gas company certification body for businesses operating in the stationary refrigeration, air conditioning and heat-pump (SRAC) sector in Northern Ireland.

Company certification is a legal requirement under the Fluorinated Greenhouse Gases (FGG) Regulations, which became law on 9 March this year.

To comply with the regulations, businesses that install, maintain or service stationary refrigeration, air-conditioning and/or heat pump equipment that contains or is designed to contain F-gases must now possess an Interim or Full Company Certificate. The deadline for certification passed on July 4.

The announcement means that Refcom is now the F-Gas certification body for the whole of the UK.

An agreement was signed in June between Refcom and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) for SRAC businesses in Great Britain. In the three weeks since the agreement was signed with Defra, Refcom has already received and processed more than 2,500 business applications.
