London will soon get its first housing association dedicated to the Chinese community.
Manchester-based registered social landlor Tung Sing signalled its intention to expand to the capital at a meeting last week with senior officials from the city's main Chinese community associations.

Tung Sing manages around 500 properties in Manchester and aims to have 100 in London within the next few years.

Peter Jackson, Tung Sing's operations manager, said approaches had been made to Islington, Lambeth and Haringey councils about obtaining stock. "The location isn't vital – we just need to get our foot in the door," said Jackson.

Tung Sing plans to lobby the Housing Corporation, London Housing Forum and Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for funds.
