A Leeds retail venue has become the first shopping centre in the country to receive the new Safer Business Award (SBA), which is supported directly by the Home Office.

The security team at Cross Gates Shopping Centre, headed up by security manager Dave Coulthard, has worked closely with tenants and customers to ensure that all security systems, policies and procedures are of the highest standards. Those standards have been rigorously inspected by Action Against Business Crime (AABC) which ultimately led to the accolade.

AABC was formed to help strengthen links between business, crime reduction partnerships and the police service. The Home Office unit is led by chief executive Michael Schuck, a member of Security Management Today’s Editorial Advisory Board.
