The Carbon Trust has increased the maximum size of interest-free energy-efficiency loans for small and medium-size businesses from £100,000 to £200,000.

The government-funded organisation has also increased the overall amount of money available by 45% to £31 million this year.

The loans are unsecured, interest-free and repayable over a period of up to four years. They provide a cost-effective way for small businesses to upgrade their equipment with more energy-efficient versions to reduce their carbon footprint as well as their operating costs.

The loans are available in England, Scotland and Wales. In Northern Ireland the maximum figure available is £400,000.
