BSRIA has launched a project to identify and independently quantify the business benefits of using technology.
The project is aimed at enabling tools such as barcodes, smartcards, palm computers. The project will build on existing knowledge and examine areas where technologies such as these can be used to improve the construction process.

BSRIA's research team consists of experts from the process and productivity section who have wide experience in design quality, site productivity, performance and measurement. Results from previous projects managed by the department have highlighted areas where efficiency can be improved on the construction site.

Examples of the benefits of using enabling technologies include improved process efficiency, lower error rates in data capture, improved speed of data receipt and more economical information exchange.

The project is jointly funded by industry and government as well as BSRIA.
