Thoroughly modern: Cartwright Pickard Architects designed this key worker development in Hackney, east London, to meet the latest government stipulations for increased use of modern methods of construction.
The first two floors will be built traditionally on-site; apartments in the top three floors will be manufactured as whole units in a factory and craned into position.
There will be 72 studio flats, plus common rooms and laundry facilities. Developer Allderham is still to decide whether to use a housing association partner for the scheme.
