"It depends on the internal make-up of the company," stressed Clark. "Either way, it's an issue that must be addressed with the utmost urgency such that any evacuation plan works from beginning to end".
Clark told SMT that training should be carried out by a qualified trainer, and consist of a practical session "which details the types of threat, who they could be from and what the potential repercussions might be". This should be followed by a session which explains exactly what the threat response sheets are for, how they should be used and then kept and looked after.
"The practical session must consist of realistic scenarios played out in a true environment to give the telephonists a true idea of what could happen in the event of a real threat," continued Clark.
In Clark's eyes, the training should be rounded off with refresher courses and a series of organised 'test' calls to the site to ensure that the training has been thoroughly assimilated by all.
