WSP has been appointed engineer for the athletes’ village at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, to be held in Glasgow

The firm is part of the City Legacy Consortium, which includes Davis Langdon and RMJM.

About 700 low-rise units will be provided for up to 8000 athletes and officials, with a further 765 homes planned after the games. All the designs are intended to be highly efficient.

The riverside development, which will include an urban beach, is expected to revive the deprived east end of Glasgow. Work is due to start next year.
