York International has built a £2 million environmental test facility at its manufacturing plant in Basildon, Essex.
The self-contained test lab, which includes a hemi-anechoic chamber, will be used for thermal and acoustic testing of York's air and water cooled chillers and heat pumps, as well as new product development.

Initially it will be used to verify cooling and heating performances of York products for Eurovent certification – up to 740 kW capacity. Rodney Hightower, York's VP and general manager of air conditioning operations, Europe, says: "It will accelerate the development of new super low sound chillers which will become the industry benchmark in European markets."
