North-east contractor SURGO Construction has recruited seven members of staff: Brian Hunter, Barry Cooper and David Blyth have all been appointed senior quantity surveyors; Darin Stephens joins as a planner; and Harry Twizell, Derek Llewellyn and Joe Coyne have been appointed site managers.

The gas division of McNicholas Construction Services has promoted Jon Williams to operations director and appointed Donnie Whyte divisional commercial manager.
