The tendering process for the UK’s first PF2 hospital is scheduled to begin in April, according to an OJEU notice published yesterday.

Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust is planning to build a £380m hospital on a brownfield site in Smethwick in the West Midlands using the PF2 model.

Interested contractors have been invited to a bidders’ day on the 6 March, with a full tender scheduled to be published on 24 April.

The winner contractor will be required to design, construct and maintain the 80,000 m2 hospital, which will include A&E, maternity, childrens’ services, critical care, diagnostics and other acute treatment services.
