Bournemouth University enjoys a strong academic reputation, and is widely respected for its Media School which is seen as something of a leader in the areas of media production, animation, marketing and journalism.
Now, the university's security systems have been beefed up with the addition of Kollector digital security stations and dome cameras courtesy of Vicon Industries. The systems have been installed to cover campuses in central Bournemouth and at Fern Barrow near Poole.

The Fern Barrow campus is benefiting from two Kollector 4000 units. These digital recorders are stand-alone or networkable, and provide extended continuous recording times. The system can record from 16 cameras at the same time, and boasts connections to alarm sensors and relays.

Storing video on a 60 Gb hard drive, the Kollector allows easy export of scenes to a network drive (or in standard JPEG format to removable media). Removing the need for tape back-up, the units also act as a powerful multiplexer.

Security managers at Bournemouth University will also be operating a 32-channel matrix from Vicon's Nova range. This unit is capable of accommodating pre-configured systems, and offers tour sequence support as standard.
