AYH and RLF have both made acquisitions in the last two weeks.

AYH bought 100-strong infrastructure specialist Berkeley Consulting to expand its UK presence while RLF snapped up Wolverhampton firm Alexander & Associates.

The AYH acquisition, for an undisclosed sum, follows AYH itself being bought by global engineering consultancy Arcadis last year.

Berkeley provides QS and commercial management services to the infrastructure markets, mainly integrated into client organisations. The consultant has offices in London, Camberley, Birmingham and Glasgow.

The RLF deal will see the firm’s sole trader Lee Reynolds join RLF’s Birmingham practice as a partner. Reynolds set up his company in 2001 after working for seven years for contractors. His main experience is in refurbishment projects, listed building schemes and dispute resolution work.

Reynolds said the appeal for joining RLF was that the firm “continued to place great stock in traditional skills”. He said he aimed to make RLF an employer of choice for skilled professionals.
