Kwikpac says its KwikFilm solution includes more than 30% recycled content

Northern Ireland-based manufacturer AG Paving and Building Products has cut its annual plastic film consumption by more than 7,000kg following the installation of new pallet wrapping machinery and nano-layered stretch film from packaging supplier Kwikpac.

The system, which was introduced in 2024, has also helped AG reduce its annual pallet wrapping costs by more than £39,000, according to figures released by the two companies. Cost per pallet wrapped dropped from £2.48 to £0.31 – an 87% saving.

The partnership forms part of AG’s wider sustainability drive, which includes a reported 54.5% cut in Scope 1 and 2 emissions in 2025. The company, which produces paving, walling and brick products, had previously committed to a 30% reduction through its Climate Action Pledge.

Kwikpac says its KwikFilm solution includes more than 30% recycled content and features advanced pre-stretch capabilities that enable lower material usage and reduced machine downtime. The company also claims the new system has helped AG lower its CO2 output by 16,284kg in the first year of operation.

AG’s production manager, Declan Mc Stravick, said the supplier’s solutions had helped the company “significantly reduce film usage” while maintaining operational efficiency. He added that sourcing decisions were increasingly focused on reducing carbon footprint and boosting productivity across AG’s production sites.

Kwikpac’s sales manager, Gary Skirton, stated that the company’s equipment and materials are designed to support customers looking to reduce their environmental impact while improving end-of-line efficiency.

While the CO2 savings and plastic usage figures have not been independently verified, both companies describe the partnership as a successful case study in aligning operational efficiency with corporate sustainability goals.

AG is currently marking its 65th year in business and has received several awards recognising its work in sustainability.
