National Grid starts work on a test line for the new T-pylon at its training academy in Nottinghamshire. Six of the new style of high voltage pylons (pictured left) will be built for the first time and are due to be completed by summer 2015.

The design for the pylons was the result of an international competition held by the RIBA, the Department of Energy and Climate Change and National Grid, which was won by Danish practice Bystrup.
